Ramdev's Remark "Women Look Good When..." Provokes Debate

New Delhi:Ramdev, a yoga instructor, made some vulgar remarks about women that have sparked a debate that could go political. At a gathering in Thane, Maharashtra, Ramdev asserted that women can look nice in a saree, a salwar kameez, or "even when they wear nothing."

Swati Maliwal, the head of the Delhi Women's Commission, shared the video and urged Ramdev to "apologise to the country."

Ramdev made the remarks on Friday at a gathering. Amruta Fadnavis, the spouse of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, joined him on the dais. Shrikant Shinde, son of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, was also present.

"Everyone appears to be extremely cheerful, I note. I wish you good fortune as well. Those at the front were allowed to dress in sarees. Those in the back were unable to participate. They presumably brought sarees from home and packed them, but they did not have time to change "In the video, Ramdev can be seen speaking while grinning.

"You all look stunning in saris. Like Amruta ji, you also look nice in salwar suits. And just like me, looking amazing without anything on is also possible.

Women in the audience may be observed exchanging concerned glances with one another.

Ramdev added, smiling, "You wear clothes for social standards. "None are required for children to wear. Up to the age of eight or ten, we used to wander around naked. Children don't use five layers of clothing till recently

According to Ms. Maliwal's tweet, "Swami Ramdev's comments on women in front of the wife of the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister are offensive and deplorable. Baba Ramdev should apologise to the nation for making a comment that has wounded all women."

Mahua Moitra of the Trinamool Congress also criticised Ramdev's remark.

"I now understand why Patanjali Baba fled Ramlila Maidan dressed as a woman. He claims to enjoy wearing sarees, salwars, and... His lopsided worldviews are a clear sign that he has a strabismus in his head "She tweeted in reference to the event in 2012, when a yoga instructor was apprehended while attempting to flee from the police while wearing a white salwar kameez.

Why did Mrs. Fadnavis not raise a fuss about Ramdev's remarks? was the query posed by the Shiv Sena side headed by Uddhav Thackeray.

"When the Karnataka Chief Minister threatens to move Maharashtra villages to Karnataka, when the Governor insults Shivaji, and now when BJP campaigner Ramdev abuses women, the government says nothing. Has the government given Delhi a loan on its tongue? "Sanjay Raut, a senior party leader, said reporters.

The BJP hasn't commented on the remarks. Neither Ramdev nor Patanjali, his organisation, have provided any clarity.
