Chetan Bhagat Calls Photos of Reality TV Star "Distracting Boys," Her Reaction

According to author Chetan Bhagat, his remarks towards reality TV star Uorfi Javed were misinterpreted. After claiming that Ms. Javed was diverting young people in the nation, particularly boys, Mr. Bhagat has come under fire on social media.

The author of "2 States" claimed in a tweet that he only advised "men" to concentrate on their careers and avoid wasting time on Instagram.

"I advised the lads not to waste time on Instagram and to concentrate on their careers and health. It seems that's not acceptable! So they took my quote out of context, added things I didn't say to the headline, and created a click-bait article with ageism as well "said Mr. Bhagat.

At a literary event, Mr. Bhagat mentioned Ms. Javed while asserting that young people these days spend a lot of time on Instagram.

"Youth, especially boys, have found their phones to be a fantastic source of diversion, spending hours simply scrolling through Instagram Reels. Everyone is familiar with Uorfi Javed. How will you use her pictures? Is it going to affect your examinations or will you go to a job interview and claim to be familiar with all of the interviewer's attire?" stated Mr. Bhagat.

The author stated, "On one side, we have a youth who is protecting our country at Kargil, while on the other side, we have another young who is watching Uorfi Javed's images hiding in their blankets."

Ms. Javed reacted angrily, accusing the author of dragging her into the dialogue unnecessarily.

In an Instagram story, Ms. Javed stated that "guys like him will constantly blame the women before acknowledging their own inadequacies." "You sickos out there need to stop supporting rape culture. Mr. Chetan Bhagat, blaming women's clothing for men's behaviour is so 1980s "Added she.

Additionally, she disseminated screenshots of Mr. Bhagat's allegedly leaked WhatsApp communications from the #MeToo movement in 2018.

Mr. Bhagat tweeted that the charges were false "I have never spoken to, chatted with, met, or known anyone where it is claimed that I have. It is a non-issue, a fabrication, and bogus. I have not voiced any criticism. I also believe there is nothing wrong with advising people to stop wasting time on Instagram and instead pay attention to their careers and fitness."
